PAYANA
Payana is a Kannada word that translates into "Journey". It is a collective effort to assist adolescent girls in their life journeys to excel and flourish. Through Payana, we endeavour to foster a generation that is confident and independent.
Sports for Development, Sunday learning and development sessions, Summer Camp and annual residential workshops are integral components of the programme along with scholarship support to continue formal education. Payana offers direction to wings that are preparing for a flight.
Concept Note
In 2012, RAPID initiated a Program, Padavi. It was a support program for RAPID affiliated Women’s Daughters through annual scholarships. The goal was to ensure affordability and accessibility of formal education for daughters of Single Mothers, from 9th Standard to Bachelor’s Programs.
As we grew, our understanding of support deepened. We redefined the program from sheer financial support to a comprehensive support program aimed at holistic development of adolescent girls. This paved way for Padavi to be renamed as Payana. As the name suggests, we assist the journeys of girls to break the cycle of distress and foster a resilient and strong generation.
What we do?
We engage with the girls through the following components –
These components enable weekly interface with the girls and offers insights into their everyday challenges and learning's. As each individual is unique, the support is tailor made to cater to the girls’ aspirations and potential. We also engage with the parents of the girls through Parents’ Meetings conducted in every 6-Months.
