Who We are
Rehabilitative Assistance for People in Distress (RAPID) is an NGO serving Women in Dharwad since 2001. We assemble rehabilitative care for Single Women, Single Mothers and Women in distress by creating social and economic opportunities through counseling, education, skill development and employment.
Our Vision
Our vision is to nurture strong and confident Women.
Our Mission
The mission is to assist the rehabilitative journeys of Single Mothers, Single Women and Women in distress.
Our HISTORY
The idea of RAPID was first conceived by Mr. Vijay Kulkarni when he was working at BASIX, a microfinance and livelihood creation institute throughout India. He moved to Dharwad to start his new venture. During the initial research phase, it became apparent that there were many struggling single women. Most of these women were either widows or had been deserted by their husbands (alternately, in several cases the woman had left her husband). In June 2001, RAPID was born to respond to this need and serve this section of the society. In the last 17 years, we have assisted more than 4000 Women through rehabilitative care.

The following factors are taken into account for classification or grouping the beneficiaries:
1. Economic Status of the beneficiary and the immediate family: If the Woman is unemployed, dependent on her immediate family or the sole bread earner of the family

3. Social Challenge: If the Woman is facing any harassment from her relatives or the society
4. Below Poverty Line: If the Woman falls below the poverty line
5. Education: The Woman’s formal education is also a deciding factor in understanding her challenges and need for assistance as we extend support through scholarship and mentorship for young girls
